Dr. Susan A. Bryan, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC
I am a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a board-certified Family Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I completed my Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Family Psychiatric–Mental Health at Gonzaga University in 2007 and earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Chatham University in 2014 . I have more than 17 years of experience practicing as a psychiatric nurse practitioner in Anchorage, Alaska. After relocating to Alaska in 2007, I spent 16 years with Southcentral Foundation at the Behavioral Health Fireweed Clinic, providing comprehensive community mental health care. In addition, I established a part-time private practice in Eagle River in 2008, which relocated to Anchorage in 2023. In 2024, I transitioned to full-time practice at Empowerment Mental Health.
In total, I bring over 23 years of experience in the mental health field. Before becoming a nurse practitioner. I worked in Boise, Idaho as a registered nurse on psychiatric Assertive Community Treatment and Mental Health Court teams, as well as on child, adolescent, and adult inpatient psychiatric units. Earlier in my career, I also served as a psychiatric technician in both acute and residential child and adolescent units, as well as adult inpatient settings. These diverse clinical experiences have provided a strong foundation of advanced education, practical expertise, and a deep understanding of mental health care across the lifespan.
